Learn to ignore bad marriages, ”Marriage is beautiful" –  Iyanya States

Nigerian musician Iyanya said that in order for Nigerians to have an untarnished view of marriage, they must learn to ignore "bad marriages."

In a recent episode of the Kingz Corner podcast, Iyanya gave advice to engaged and married couples alike, encouraging them to keep their marriages off social media and instead concentrate on building a strong, loving bond.

He declared that marriage is a wonderful institution and advised people not to allow the negative publicity around unhappy marriages on social media to tarnish their impression of it.

Iyanya stressed the value of maintaining one's privacy in a marriage, saying that talking about marital problems on social media simply attracts unwanted remarks and meddling that could endanger the union even more.

He stressed how crucial it is for couples to talk about their issues in private.

The artist claims that showing off love and happiness on social media isn't a true sign of a happy marriage.

He advised couples to work on their relationship in private rather than relying on social media for approval from others.

He declared:

“Marriage is beautiful. We have to learn to ignore bad marriages. And not allow those bad marriages to define our expectations of marriage. Don’t let a bad marriage make you think you can’t have a good marriage.

“I believe that if you find someone who loves you and is willing to sacrifice, it [marriage] is beautiful. I know people who are happily married, not that they don’t have challenges but I’ve watched them protect what they have. Some people who are happily married are not on Instagram; they don’t post valuable moments. They keep it, they cherish it.

“Social media is two words; social and media. Is your marriage social? If you want to be entertaining people with your marriage, if you guys now have small issues, you can’t even make up again”.
